This exhibition tells the story of Frederick Lanchester and his close links to Olton where he lived and worked testing his theories of flight with gliders that flew spectularly from nearby St Bernards Road.
At the same time he was also testing an engine in what became Britain’s first motorboat that was destined to power the first all-British four-wheeled petrol motor car built in 1895. Find out more about Fred and his brothers Frank and George and why they became known as ‘The Unholy Trinity’!
